About Hamleys
Hamleys is probably the most famous toy store in the UK with thousands of the latest toys to choose from, including many of the favourite brands as well as Hamleys own toy collection. The website is bright and inviting and easy to use and is filled with indoor and outdoor toys as well as a fine selection of arts, crafts and games.
Hamleys.com Review
Hamleys has to be the best online toy store design I have ever come across. The very look just wants to make you look around and explore. The top feature images are just spectacular and so clear and colourful. They seem to blend into the rest of the site and background effortlessly.
The top menu directs you to the shop; explore page and the featured toy brand which at the time of writing was Star Wars. The explore page which gives you a little bit of history about Hamleys, what’s on, and birthday parties at a local store. There’s also a competition section where you can win a selection of prizes for your child.
Back to the home page the sale is prominently displayed directing at the home page via the spectacular banner mentioned earlier. Further on reveals links to the most popular toys and the best sellers. The find a store link is conveniently located right at the top of the page. Disappointingly, to find the contact details and the help pages you have to scroll right to the footer menu. There are prominent social icons for those who like to keep in touch via the popular social networks.
Looking at the product details page a full description is shown with a product safety tab giving detail on the age suitability. The delivery and returns information can be found on a separate tab. Delivery is free depending on a minimum spend; at the time of writing it was £50. Free delivery applies to the standard service on 3 to 5 working days. Vouchers can be redeemed at the checkout along with gift voucher codes that may have been given as a gift. This is a good feature and not always possible on some retailer sites.
Payment can be made with a credit or debit card. Unfortunately services like Paypal or Google Checkout cannot be used which is a little bit outdated as most people like the convenience of paying this way.
